Micro movement practice

a nice little combination of effort & grace

It has been a minute since I filmed an exercise snack, and this baby offers a really nice blend of mobilizing and strengthening using two medium dumbbells. I’ve made it free, and if you find it supports you there’s always the option to become an invested subscriber. I’ll be adding a paywall in a week or so! There’s a bunch of these on here if you search “micro movement practice” that are available to invested subscribers, too.

We’ll warm up the core and spine on the ground to start, and then get into a short and sweet circuit for the lower and upper body that infuses a really nice stretch/decompressor for the spine. I incorporated a book to elevate my heels in my squat which you are also welcome to do.

This is a practice I do a few times a week, often when I’m waiting for the laundry to finish, cooking, after a meal, more recently when I’m watching the Jays – my hope is the concept of the “snack” means this movement practice can feel impromptu and won’t feel like a production. It’s so good for our tissues to move regularly (quality over quantity) so invite it in whenever it feels right!

I did not make a playlist, however you could totally put on your own tunes while you move – maybe you make your own and start with something slow and vibey, layer in something more upbeat and close with something soft and twinkly!

It feels so weird to talk at nobody (how us teachers did this for a year is beyond me!) but I’m happy I recorded it and hope it you enjoy – the moves are simple enough that you could probably move through it once with me and then do it by memory moving forward if you enjoy how it feels :)
