Vitamin Joy & Connection
Hello and thank you for reading my second substack! I’ve been working away at this all month and, just like the first, it was such a joy to put together. I’ve included a recording of the content for those who are more auditory in how they consume content, which you can access by scrolling below.
My approach to what it means to feel well has shifted a lot over the years. When I was studying Holistic Nutrition, I was hyper-focused on the physical nutrition piece: vitamins, minerals, fats, proteins, supplements, etc. I was also diving deep into the benefits of physical movement for mind and body. While this all still excites me, and is integral to feeling well, I now have more of an appreciation for what we call emotional nutrition, or the things that bring us joy, pleasure, and connection. The warm feelings that add that sparkle to our day to day. For example, sometimes what is deemed as an “indulgence” by society is actually a source of a lot of emotional nutrition via pleasure, nostalgia and joy, especially when consumed with people you care about and love. When opting to stay out past bedtime, despite your Oura ring’s warning to prioritize sleep, is worth it for the laughs and memories.
