Hello and welcome to another Sunday! I hope the weekend has been good to you thus far, even with that sneaky moving of the clocks forward (an extra good reason to come to Restore tonight at 5pm might I suggest).
It’s been a joy to come back from my lil solo getaway embraced with such a warm welcome (even though I was gone for a mere four days). Before we dive into today’s musing on DANCE, a few updates:
Walking club is back on Thursday! Meet me at 8am at Kits Beach Coffee for a nice cruise with a coffee :) Sam is enjoying a gorgeous vacation in New Zealand, so it’ll just be me leading this week – bring a pal, dog, baby, anyone!
We don’t have an official page or form (yet), but I do want to highlight that you can book a private class of any nature at TurF for your birthday, your work team, just for fun with your pals, for a bachelorette (we did a mini retreat for a gal’s Bach a few weeks ago, so fun!), etc. I LOVE teaching these private and intimate classes, so let me know if this is something you’d be interested in – this Friday I taught a beautiful restorative class for a group of friends on IWD
ICYMI: I added a lower body movement practice which gives the hamstrings and calves lots of love – enjoy it here
Tune into my first Voice Note to Spark Joy On Birthing :) more to come!
2024 is the year I really put forth effort to develop and grow this substack of mine, and I would love your help if you feel called. If there is a post or movement practice or anything that has really landed for you, please share with someone in your orbit! I want to reach as many folks as possible with the tools offered here and I would appreciate your support so much <3
Okayyyy, let’s talk about DANCE
As I have written about here before, music is an exceptionally powerful tool to elicit emotions. So is movement. When paired together, we can create an embodied experience, where time stops, your identity and responsibilities fade into the background, and for a distinct moment in time, whether it be the container of a class, even a single song, magic happens. A spark is lit within, and you get to use this incredible vehicle, the body, to elicit joy with the support of music. It can lift us up, crack us open, and everything in between. Ryan Heffington has a fabulous Ted Talk on how dance elicits joy that I highly encourage you give a watch.
So here’s my idea for you, an idea inspired by a choreographer I admire.
